When should I book my Wedding cake?
There are always timelines given in glossy wedding magazines outlining when to book various suppliers for your wedding. I think when I got married the advice was to book your cake around 8 months before. These timelines are really useful and provide an insight into the fact that it is good to be organised when sorting out your suppliers - especially if there is someone who you would particularly like to work with.
As a cake designer, I would suggest enquiring and booking your wedding cake as soon as possible once your venue has been organised. I say this, because I know that as a wedding cake designer I can only take one or two orders per week. This will be the same for many wedding cake designers as we often work alone and each cake takes hours and hours to create - as well as logistics around delivery and set up. If you have found a cake designer whose work you love and would like them to make your cake, I would always advise making early contact to check their availability on your date to avoid being disappointed. Wedding cake designers are often booked a year or two in advance, and with all of the 2020 postponed weddings due to Covid-19, 2021 is very busy. I know for myself that 2022 weddings are already booked in and some dates are fully booked. If you are planning your wedding cake in Manchester or Cheshire for your 2022 wedding and would like to check my availability, please do email firstname.lastname@example.org in the first instance.
